About Seton Melvin

A valued member of the New York City community, Seton Melvin is charitably active, lending her support to the Fund for Park Avenue, an organization committed to beautifying the famous Manhattan street. Seton Melvin maintains charitable relationships with several New York City arts institutions, including the Whitney Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, both of which she leads as a director.

Ms. Melvin holds a BA from Williams College, and she continues to provide assistance to the school’s Museum of Art. Beyond the arts, she stands out as a supporting donor to PBS, which has used her financial generosity to create several television programs.

A former commercial lending professional, Seton Melvin transitioned from the private sector in the 1990s and now focuses on directing the Brain Donor Program at Mount Sinai Hospital. Since assuming her directorship in 1996, she has guided the first US-based program dedicated to the study of brains with clinically documented injuries.
